Sophia Blinks’ love for music started from the age of 8. At the age of 16, she was chosen to participate in Education Queensland’s Musically Outstanding Students (MOST) orchestra, after this experience, she was inspired to pursue a professional career in music. During the following year, she started performing with the Queensland Youth Symphony and was appointed concertmaster of Queensland Education’s Creative Generation State School Showcase (CGEN) orchestra, where she also appeared as a soloist. For the past two years, Sophia has participated in the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp which has taken place in both Canberra and Adelaide.
Sophia is a former student of David Dalseno and is currently studying under the tutelage of Graeme Jennings at the Queensland Conservatorium. She regularly performs with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and her own String Quartet who have recently undergone masterclasses with the Brodsky Quartet and the Australian Piano Quartet. Sophia enjoys teaching violin as she would like to inspire the future generations’ love of music.
